Holographic projectors have been around for some time, mainly used in an industrial or showbiz setting in which its effect would be used to dazzle audiences the world over. We’ve seen holograms in movies and TV shows. Just recently, concert promoters have managed to commission systems that would work on the stage at any venue, bringing performers who have died back to life and back on the stage as if they were still in their prime and at their best. We saw Tupac rock the house once again at Coachella, and that is only the beginning.

On this grander scale, you can imagine just about anyone coming back to life and back onto the stage. Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and just about anyone else can put on a full show for a totally new generation. On a smaller scale, 3D images can be rendered within a box or frame that can fit in a museum or trade show display. It can render a lifelike image of just about anything from a new product to an ancient creature or civilization. you can watch the car of the future fly through the sky or watch the Tyrannosaurus Rex stalk its prey.

It is just within the past year or two that these systems have become scalable and affordable enough to be purchased by smaller businesses, although they are not quite affordable or standard enough yet to be obtained by individual enthusiasts. The technology is also not practical at this time for a household setting, as there are very few reasons to simply display a holographic image in your home, which would be for nothing besides decoration or ambiance. But as the technology develops, we can see it being integrated into gaming and video technology, as well as lots of other things, and iReviews is excited for the possibilities. In the meantime, this list of iReviews top picks for 2015 best holographic projectors will show you what is already possible.
